This GO product roadmap template was created by Roman Pichler, a renowned product management expert, author, and consultant. Unlike traditional feature-based roadmaps, the GO product roadmap is goal-oriented (hence the name). Its goals focus on outcomes or benefits like user acquisition, activation, and retention, forming the plan's backbone. This approach shifts the conversation from debating features to creating value, making smart investment decisions, and aligning stakeholders and development teams.
A goal-oriented roadmap provides several advantages:
Outcome focused: Concentrates on achieving specific goals such as user acquisition, activation, and retention. Value Creation: Helps in prioritizing features that deliver the most value.
Stakeholder alignment: Aligns development teams and stakeholders around common goals.
Strategic decision-making: Facilitates smart investment decisions by focusing on benefits rather than features.
The template includes two connected workspaces:
1. GO Product Roadmap: Manage your goals, evaluate them based on time (quarters), release, and metrics. Connect them with items in your opportunity backlog.
2. Opportunity Backlog: Manage your opportunity/feature backlog, run discovery, prioritize next steps, and turn strategy into action with a timeline view, ensuring alignment with your goals.
